Did you know that VHL (von hippel-lindau) is a genetic disorder where patients develop benign and cancerous tumors throughout their body their entire lifetime? There is no cure, but through research there are ways to monitor the disease and reduce the amount of surgeries one must endure. VHL research has led to the development of 9 lifesaving drugs used to treat cancer and could someday lead to a cure for all cancers!
The VHL Alliance hosts events for families affected by the VHL disease through informative sessions and connects with patients to specialists throughout the world. Watch my video below which was from last summer's VHL Family Weekend event in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I have been navigating my own struggles of VHL disease with four brain surgeries, one spine surgery, and surgeries and continued treatment for renal cell carcinoma (kidney cancer). But through medical advancements and active VHL research, we are very lucky that our daughter Naomi does not have to live her life with this disease.
Please support my fundraising goal by making a donation. Together we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by VHL and possibly even cure cancer through VHL research!
