My friend Alex Anderson died due to VHL at 26 years old. Alex was one of my oldest friends; I have spent more years on this earth with Alex in my life than without. He was one of my favorite people in the world, and I miss him every day. 

Alex would have been 29 this May, so I have signed up for the VHLA walk to raise funds and awareness for VHL as a sort of birthday present to honor his memory. The money raised will support patients and their families, and will fuel research efforts. VHL research has led to the development of 9 drugs used to treat cancer so far, and the more knowledge we gain, the more we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by VHL, and those who love them.
